Understanding and configuring DHCP

DHCP- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.

Suppose you have a small network and you want all the machines in the network to have an ip address, dns server address, gateway etc to be configured automatically at boot time, then DHCP can help you.

In this case the client machine is not configured with a static ip address but its configured in such a way that it goes and quries the DHCP server in the network for its IP address and other configs.

EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol)

eigrp tutorial

INTRODUCTION TO EIGRP

EIGRP is a Cisco proprietary routing protocol. and since  it is proprietary, one can use it only in a Cisco network which is a draw back of this routing protocol. Now have a look on the technology used in this routing protocol.Technology used in EIGRP  (Diffused Update Algorithm) is similar to Distance Vector Protocol.

This notes is all about how to configure RIP Version 1 and Version 2  on cisco routers.

This tutorial on RIP will make CCNA studentrs works more easier. Here we see how to configure rip version 1 and rip version2 on cisco routers. This tutorial consits of configuration.debugging and troubleshooting of Routing Information Protocol.

In our previous post we have learned how to configure static route on cisco routers.

Routing Information Protocol Guide

routing information protocol guide

slashroot have already explained about the static routing configuration on cisco routers

Now today we are going to explain you about the   Routing Information protocol(RIP) on CISCO Devices.RIP is oldest routing protocol which is still in use.Routers with RIP configuration Periodically broadcast the entire routing table to the network. And this broadcast result in precious bandwidth wastage. And also it have no mechanism to authenticating other routers.

static routing configuration

staic routing in cisco

Before we go through the static routing configuration lets have a look why static routing is important and what is it's use.As you know static routing is most secure  routing configuration. With the help of static routing a network administrator can configure each router with all appropriate routes.Static routing provides much control over how packets are passed through a network. And most important thing about static routing is that as we know routers are configured manually, so there are no routing protocols for hacker to manipulate. The only drawback of static routing is that it is not good for frequent route change.

Understanding TCP three way handshake

TCP handshake Explained

Before understanding what is three way handshake we will go through a set of terminologies and understand them. We will be moving step by step towards
tcp three way handshake. If you feel that you did not understand something in this tutorial, you can mail me your quries at slashmaster@slashroot.in

First lets what is TCP.
